2015 Superbowl: Heading Off To University of Phoenix Stadium?

January 27, 2015 By: eila2 Comments

We all know what is coming around the corner…The Super bowl! And, if you are a sports chick like me, then you get really excited about the Super bowl. Last year, Eileen and I went to Super bowl Boulevard in NYC and couldn’t get enough of the crazy energy in the crowd. Great times! As I said several times, in your travels, you want to do more than go to different places. You want to create special monumental moments. And, going to the Super bowl will be just the thing.

Think about it….Super bowl XLIX is going to make history. It’s the Seahawks second consecutive year at the Super bowl. No team has won back to back Super bowl titles since the 2003-04 seasons. And, if the Patriots win, then Tom Brady and Bill Belchick will get their 4th Super bowl ring, which will make them legends in the world of football. So, are you on your way to the Super bowl? If so, then you need to know the ins and outs around Phoenix-Glendale.

Where to Stay: I’ve to Phoenix 4 times and where you stay can make or break your travel experience. Based on your preference, priorities and how much money you want to spend will determine which hotel is best for you. Drury Inn Tempe is very close to the airport and it’s a friendly and comfortable place to kick back and relax. Plus, there are a lot of freebies…..free popcorn and soda at the end of the day, long distance calls, breakfast, wifi and 5:30pm kick back hour with food and beverages. But, if you want more elegant touch, then Hilton Tapatio Cliffs will be your place. You can enjoy fall water village, 8 pools, champion golf course and indulge in an awesome spa treatment while enjoying Phoenix’s mountain landscape. However, if you want to be up close and personal, then staying at Holiday Inn Express will be your thing. Its 1 mile from the football stadium and in the middle of all the action.

Where to Eat: The best thing about going to another city is EATING. You can’t fault me about this one. I love to go to different restaurants I normally don’t go to or experience the specialty foods the city is known for. Well, Which wich is a specialty sandwich shop. You choose the sandwich, mark the style and size of the sandwich on the brown paper bag with a sharpie and bring it to the cashier. You just wait for your name to be called and get your sandwich. After enjoying the sandwich, you take a sharpie doodle on the back of the bag and hang it up in the art gallery. Another place to check out is the Shout house. This place is big on FUN with dueling pianos and people singing rock and roll from the past and present. Of course, the Shout house is big on appetizers, pizza and burgers (all of our favorite American foods). And, there’s McFadden’s, Irish pub with an upscale atmosphere in the center of Phoenix’s prime dining and entertainment spots. Also, McFadden’s has plenty of space for sport fans with 50 HD TVs and 150″ projection screens.

What to Do: Besides seeing the Super bowl, there’s plenty to do in Phoenix-Glendale area. You have to go to the Westgate Entertainment District (westgate 20 IMAX theater with gourmet snack bar), Gallery Glendale and Peoria Sport Complex. You can’t come to Arizona without going to the Grand Canyon. Take a tour of 277 miles of wonderful landscape. You can bus it, hike it, bike it, mule it, raft it, drive it or helicopter it. So many options to see it.

By now, you should be well equipped on what to do around Phoenix. I hope I inspired you to venture out to see the Super bowl. It would be a great experience. You know, it’s not too late. You can still go…you can get tickets right here.

But, if you can’t make it this year, there’s always next year. In the meanwhile, enjoy the commercials and your Super bowl party. By the way, what are doing for the Super bowl and who are you rooting for? Let me know and leave a comment. Let’s chat about it. Take care for now.

Hugs,
