Yep, another one is in the books, and I must say WOW. The game was surprising and was, in no other words, a BLOWOUT. But enough of that since I’m pretty sure you’ll be inundated with all that talk. It’s time to sum up the OTHER important aspect of the Super Bowl, and no, I’m not talking about the commercials. I could probably blog about the commercials alone, but I wanted to write about something that’s important in its own right – the Super Bowl party.

I am writing from the viewpoint of an attendee. I have had a standing invitation to a Super Bowl party for years now and each year I come home thinking, “Wow. That was great.” Great food, great company, tons of laughs, and lots of entertainment.  As always, I came home stuffed beyond belief – there’s ALWAYS plenty of food! This year, however, I decided to change it up – I finally succumbed and wore, yes, you guessed it – YOGA PANTS. I will never go back again – yoga pants will be the official uniform for my Super Bowl party needs. In all fairness to me, I DID have some exercise in between bites – from getting up to get more to eat to constantly tweeting. Did I burn off what I ate? Not likely. Did I enjoy myself? MOST likely.

The menu consisted of: pulled pork, mini egg rolls (contributed by my mother), baked ziti, meatballs, sausage and peppers, wings (of course)….the dessert table was nothing to be scoffed at. Tri-color cookies, Italian cookies, cheesecake with strawberry sauce, pretzel kisses (contributed by me)….Oh my! Thank goodness yoga pants have good give! I think I stretched it to the max!

We played a game called “Left-Right-Center” and it was a blast! We played it during the Halftime show and that, in conjunction with Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, halftime went QUICK! PLUS, it didn’t hurt that I won the prize! (After tonight’s festivities, I probably should use my winnings to invest in new yoga pants!)

All in all, although the game had a surprising outcome, my belly being full had the LEAST surprising outcome. Despite the Broncos losing, I feel like a big winner – quality time with great people and great food….how could I feel like I lost anything?

Thoughts and comments? Would love to hear from ya! Hope you had a blast at your festivities as well!
