Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Today is a bittersweet day – a day of reflection and a day of celebration.  We should reflect on how fortunate we are to have our freedoms afforded to us by the brave few who sacrificed their lives for us, but by the same token, we should celebrate our freedom. I personally feel very fortunate to live in a country free of oppression and one in which people are free to express themselves (within reason) without the fear of governmental persecution. We are able to do what we do today, because of where we live and who got us there.

I would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to the brave men and women who laid down their lives for us and who are currently laying down their lives for us. Too often, people forget the true meaning of this day and it gets clouded with thoughts of barbecues, the beach, and a day off. Those are all well and good as long as the true meaning doesn’t get buried in all of these festivities. The reason we are fortunate, blessed, and lucky to be able to enjoy this wonderful day is because we have freedom and that freedom was afforded to us by these men and women. I don’t mean to preach and tell people what to do, but if possible, can you please take a moment to remember those who made the supreme sacrifice of their lives? However you choose to do it, bow your head, say a prayer before eating, or simply uttering to of the most beautiful words in the English language (Thank You), just please take the few seconds to do it. It doesn’t take long, and pales in comparison to the service these people gave, but it would be your small contribution to recognizing these people for all that they did or do.

Make sure you drop me a line to let me know how you chose to remember the fallen and the ones currently serving – would love to hear about it!

So on this day, I just want to say  “Thank you” & have a very happy and safe Memorial Day!

Chat soon,
