Gratitude Challenge: Thankful For Coupons

Today I am thankful for all the coupon codes, discounts and savings that help me buy, experience, and own different things. I know it sounds odd, but I truly am thankful for the ability to save on money whenever I can. What did everyone do back in the day? When I was younger, I probably wouldn’t have spent ANY time looking for discounts. What I have found is that the older I get, the more life is put into perspective and the more I realize why people do what they do. Money is precious, especially in today’s day and age, and any little bit I can save, I WILL!

Thank goodness there are a lot of various search engines and lot of other ways to find great discounts. Like anything else, if all else fails, you can always Google it.

Being a savvy traveler, I make sure to check out sites like Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity. To make things even easier, I also check out Kayak which will compare a bunch of different sites.

For shopping, I usually try sites like Coupon Mom or Retail Me Not. If not I just do a general Google search.

For different experience, Groupon, Living Social, and Amazon Deals are GREAT resources!!! I was able to do a lot, see a lot, and experience a lot thanks to these websites!

Another great source is the Entertainment book -it has local savings coupons. I’ve save TONS of money on movies and restaurants and other forms of entertainment. It has a something for everything: restaurants, movies, rental cars, retail shopping, local services and even amusement parks and discounts on tickets to games. I loved it so much I set myself up on a recurring basis.

It’s amazing what you can save just by having a little patience and know-how. I sometimes regret not keeping a journal of how much I actually DID save!

Before going out to make a final purchase on something, make sure you check the net to see if there are any coupons for printing or for download onto your smartphone. What a convenience this is! In some stores, they’ll even scan the coupon right off your smartphone. For example, in Starbucks, you can show them a gift card you may have downloaded onto your phone and they scan it right at point of purchase. Once, I gave my phone to the barista and she told me that there is a policy prohibiting them from physically holding my phone, so she brought the scanner to my phone. Another example: I went to Sports Authority to buy an easy set-up canopy and I scoured to find a discount code or coupon. The coupon I found originally said that I had to print it up. The cashier told me she can scan my phone and she did. By the time all was said and done, I ended up paying LESS than the sale price…and that was INCLUDING taxes! (The sale price was about $109 + tax. I paid $92 with tax. Not too shabby, eh?

Whatever you do, make sure you do your homework. Not all coupon codes are cut out to be what they’re supposed to be. (No pun intended) With some coupon and discount code savvy, you’ll be sure to rack up the savings in no time!

Please feel free to share more sites – I’d love to know of more and be able to use them….

XOXOXOXO,
