LOCATION:  Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar, Walt Whitman Mall, Huntington Station, NY 2/14/14

So….what’s a single (and might I add, FABulous) gal to do on THE biggest heart day of the year? None other than go out to eat and try a new adventure with yet ANOTHER single and FABulous gal. Laticia and I decided to try Zinburger, one of the new eateries in the Walt Whitman Mall. The first time I saw this was right around Christmas time and when I saw what type of restaurant it was, I thought it was truly unique and just KNEW I had to try it. So when plans were being made for Valentine’s Day, there was no hesitation on my part.

I was heading straight there from work and there was no doubt that the place was going to packed. So through our orchestrations, Laticia and I agreed that she would get there earlier to to get a head start on the wait. I got there and we chatted during our 40 min wait. We finally got seated and took a gander at the place. It was certainly high-energy and certainly high-decibel as well. If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic corner, this wouldn’t be the place….and that’s ok. It’s for all types of groups – from couples to families. The centrally located bar was long and wide and reminiscent of a bar seen in a typical wine bar (which half of its claim to fame). On the perimeter there was a combination of booths, stand-alone tables, and a combination of the two with pub-style chairs. The décor was a mix of modern and elegance. There was a big ceiling to floor chalkboard announcing the specials such as the Triple Chocolate shake and the burger of the week, in this case, the Fromage A Trois (three cheeses).

Our server was so pleasant and she truly made dining there a pleasure.  Upon learning that it was our first time there, she proceeded to explain that the only types of beef they use are Angus or Kobe. Despite this fact, the prices were pretty good! Laticia and I were looking for Moscato on the wine list, but they only had certain types of wines. Our server suggested the Riesling as the sweetest one on the list and offered us a taste. We both had a sip of some samples she brought out and they were great! I believe it was called the Snoqualmie Riesling. We looked over their menu and everything looked so good. I ended up having the Zinburger and Laticia had the Samburger. From what we experienced, both burgers were absolutely delicious! The buns were soft, not soggy, and the beef seemed to crumble from being so tender and juicy. The freshness was all you could taste! Sides were to be ordered separately and we decided to share the oh-so-fancy Truffle fries. Talk about living in the lap of luxury! These fries were beyond phenomenal and we couldn’t stop picking at them! As a matter of fact, the second they got to the table, we immediately started digging in! Which brings us to dessert. The dessert menu only consists of shakes and pies. Although we were a bit full,  Laticia had the Bars of Zin shake and I had the Oreo pie. We both tried a bit of each and they were both so good! The resulting check was the “icing on the cake”. After all we had and with the quality of service and the quality of the food, it was hard to believe we didn’t spend more. We already made plans to return real soon! We are excited to try the other burgers and salads (yes, they also have salads) and desserts.

So if you’re looking to go someplace unique and with a great atmosphere and selection of scrumptious food, this is your place! Who knows….maybe we’ll see ya there!

Let us know your thoughts if you stop by Zinburger for a visit….we would love to hear about it! Don’t forget to check out our gallery for more photos!
